Peter’s New Wheel of Life Collection!

Peter D’Enbeau, Soulmates’ Master Jeweler, has created a line of circular gemstone pendants that are a classic style with a twist. The hand-forged pendants have a circular frame of yellow or white gold with intricate designs in the center forged out of gold.

Ranging from pink sapphires, rubies, violet sapphires, diamonds, mokume gane disks and yellow sapphires, the collection spans a wide range of sizes, price ranges and styles.

Stop in and see the new line today, they are selling out fast! Every style is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that involves dividing a circle into parts that compliment the space of the circle and allow the placement of the brilliant gemstones to coordinate within the circle created. They are simply stunning!

World’s Largest Diamond Discovered in South Africa

The world’s largest diamond was quietly discovered in South Africa this year. Prior to this discovery, the Cullinan, weighing 3,106.75carats was the largest diamond mined. Although the exact weight of the rough diamond has not been revealed, the mining company has stated that it is roughly twice the size of the Cullinan.

That would make this newly discovered rough diamond between the size of a softball and basketball. The general estimate of what the rough could be worth on the world market is over $30 million dollars, before the rough diamond is even cut into smaller diamonds for use in jewelry.

A Diamond and Platinum Skull

Damien Hirst, a British artist, designed "For the Love of God," a platinum cast skull weighing 2,156grams and covered with 8,601 diamonds with a total of 1,106.18 carats. In the center of the forehead is a 52 carat natural pink pear-shaped diamond surrounded by 14 smaller pear-shaped diamonds.

The skull was sold for 100 million dollars to a group of anonymous investors and will remain on display in the White Cube gallery for a year, which was a condition of the sale. It took a total of 2 years to complete the piece and was financed by the artist himself who is independently wealthy.

4 Billion Year Old Diamonds Found in Western Australia

Shedding light on a long-running scientific debate, these new diamonds help answer the question of whether the early Earth was covered by oceans of hot lava or if early Earth cooled quickly enough for rock formation and was covered by water.

Scientists turn to zircon crystals for answers about early Earth because they do not melt easily and maintain their initial internal chemical structure. Inside one zircon crystal found recently, scientists discovered a diamond determined to be more than 4 billion years old, the oldest diamond discovered to this date.

The diamond find supports the quick-cooling and oceans theory with the crust and oceans of the Earth forming as early as 4.4 billion years ago. For diamonds to form they need intense pressure from surrounding rocks or the Earth’s crust which suggests that when these diamond were formed, a crust was already in existence on the Earth.

Watch Batteries and Bands

We offer watch batteries and band adjustments on most styles and brands of watches. The prices range from $8-15 for the watch batteries and $5-15 for the band adjustments. However, we are not able to adjust or size stretchy bands.

Mexican Fire Opal

Mexican Fire Opal is a brilliant true orange, orange-red and yellow-orange gemstone that is a beautiful and exciting addition to any jewelry wardrobe. In 2007 in Tucson we purchased some of the finest Mexican Fire Opal I have ever seen. We have a few single gemstones and some perfectly matched pairs for earrings are side stones. We will be bringing back more fire opal this year, it is a fabulous gemstone.

Orange is a great way to bring some excitement to muted Winter wardrobe colors like khaki, greys and blacks. While an orange sweater may be a little too much for some women, a flash of sunset orange on the finger or around your neck is an easy way to add some excitement to an outfit and your day!

Tiffany & Co., the New Costco?

When you want an inexpensive gift of a brand name, with reliable but not outstanding quality, you might think Costco, but wealthy Europeans, Asians and Arabs think Tiffany & Company. The decline of the dollar against other currencies drove higher profits at Tiffany this past quarter due to bargain-hunting shoppers from the Asian, Araba dn European countries.

Looking for inexpensive gifts, they drove the sales of mid-priced items at Tiffany to jump. Luxury items, including jewelry has declined somewhat as cautious buyers wait to see if there will be worldwide financial trouble.

Mid-priced items at Tiffany saw a steady increase as international buyers snapped up gifts for their families and friends. This new trend should spread to other high end jewelers with recognizable brand names as international buyers seek to take advantage of the declining US dollar.
