Finally Some Soccer Justice                                        October 15, 2007

Pierson's soccer team played his old team this weekend in a soccer tournament that is absolutely the worst run tournament in the entire state.  I really hope that his club does not go back next year.  However, Pierson's new team got to play his old team and they killed them.  His new team completely outclassed and outplayed his old team.  The score of 3-1 could have been much worse but the referee was one of the worst I have ever seen.  The boys on his old team were not as skilled technically or even close to the athleticism of Pierson's team.  And the old team apparently traded the screaming, idiotic parent coach for an equally screaming and idiotic non-parent coach.  After the boy on his old team scored their only goal, the coach called him over to the sideline and screamed at him for doing some part of scoring the goal wrong.  I could not believe it.  Watching Pierson's new team win that game against his old team should not have felt as good as it did, but it was really nice.

Pierson's old Village People coach, Bill, shaved his mustache so he looks less Village People but more strange than ever.  I guess he had the mustache to cover up for his lack of a lip.  He still sat there shrieking at the boys, just from the other side of the field.  I am sure true to form, Village People Bill will record the score on the team website incorrectly or will just fail to record it, as he did when they recently got their rear ends handed to them in Tennessee.  He still has them listed as winning something called Fusion Futsal which doesn't even exist.  And the boys in Pierson's class insist that they are C1 when they are actually C2.  Apparently the parents haven't told the boys they are actually C2.  It is really sad and just shows how pathetic VP Bill's life is that he cannot deal with a boys soccer team losing.  I guess when that is all you have in your life, a game loss is paramount.

Pierson's team also played the state cup winning team and held them at 2-0, a loss but not bad considering they were playing the best team in the state.  Pierson's old team played the state cup winning team and we overheard their new coach running them down after the game and telling them "No one on this team deserves a player of the match patch because we just lost 8 or 9 to nothing!"  (Which means that the boy, Joey, who likes to call Pierson a loser at school conceded 8 or 9 goals that day.)  I guess his old team just got demolished by the state cup winning team.  Which is really strange because they are in the same club and the maximum score differential was 4 so there was no need to demoralize their sister team like that.  The whole club has no character.

The tournament had some of the worst refereeing I have ever seen.  I sat and watched a game between U13 boys and one team had driven down from Fairborn.  The referee was a young teenager who weighed at least 300 pounds and could not even jog to keep up with the play.  She would make a call from the opposite side of the field and then take almost a full minute to waddle down to the other side of the field to consult with the ref on the sideline before announcing her call.

In addition to the horrible officiating, we watched a boy run into the side of a goal and get knocked out.  The keeper was crying and the referee kept saying get him up.  It took them 30 minutes to call for an ambulance and he had blood gushing from his mouth while he was unconscious.  I could not believe that a tournament of that size could get insurance without having an ambulance on the field or in the parking lot somewhere.  I have never seen anything so disturbing and I sure hope that child is okay.

But despite such a bad tournament, to finally see Pierson's team triumph over his old team especially after the horrible things that have been said to him by his former teammates was a sweet reward.
