If you have 30 minutes available a week this school year, you could change a child’s life and your life too!!

I am a volunteer in a program called "Ohio Reads." This is a wonderful program that helps children in the local school systems with their reading skills.  I read with multiple children and I love every minute of it!

Last year one of my OR children was the child of 2 teachers. Obviously, the child was not at a loss for good reading help, but was simply shy and embarrassed to read in front of their parents. We had a great time reading books and playing word games like Scrabble. I look forward to every meeting with all of my Ohio Reads children.

Most children in the Ohio Reads program are really proud of having such personal attention, and actually brag about it to classmates. Pierson, our son, wanted to know how he could get into the program.

Please, Please, Please – if you have 30 minutes per week–I promise you that this is all it takes, you will be paid back tenfold with the joy of sharing time with these children!!!!  Every year there are more children than readers.  Last year there were 30 children recommended to the program by their teachers who did not have volunteers.  If you would like to volunteer, contact the Kings School District or me and I can put you in touch with the coordinator.
