China and the Chinese People September 30, 2006
One of the things I like the most about being a jeweler is the opportunity to meet and deal with people from all over the world on a very regular basis. In my wholesale dealings, some of the people that I enjoy dealing with the most are the Chinese.
In my experience, they are reliable and honest and the quality of their products are described honestly. In the jewelry industry, finding a wholesale supplier that can tell the truth is a rarity.
Today we had a client come in who is originally from mainland China and I really enjoyed our conversation. I am amazed that people from such different cultures and backgrounds can be so similar. He had just returned from a trip home and he was talking about how hard Chinese industry has worked to improve the overall quality of the products they produce. I have seen that happening in the Chinese jewelry industry too, particularly the wholesale pearl sector.
I am happy that some of the international companies in our area have increasingly transferred people from all over the world into our neighborhood. It makes our area a better, richer and more interesting place to live, even if they are only here for a few years.
