I've been obsessing about salmon, because of my  river current and salmon dream. I've gone over in my mind all of the aspects of the creature called salmon. A fish with homes in two places. A fish that dies after making the impossible trip upstream to lay eggs. A fish that tastes mighty fine when grilled over hickory, served with a lemon dill garnish. A fish that reminds me of bears, dams and nature activist. A fish that Courtney likes.  I still can't place exactly where the fish belongs in that dream, but I'm leaning towards my own life cycle, and the desire to make the best of my  own journey.  I'm sure these thoughts are happening because a birthday has ways of making one reflect on the direction of one's own life.

The waters forced me into a position that paralyzed me. The salmon in the same place I was,  morphed into a sea cucumber like fish with large eyes, all stared at me with the same blank resolve of cows who have been herded someplace they don't want to be, and seemed to say "Well,... here we are."
