Making  a ring for a couple who had been tortured by a bad jeweler. The jeweler had broken the diamond, and made the ring into a wreck. The couple had to get a lawyer to get the ring back in their possession because the jeweler was scared of what the couple would see. They became very unhappy with the people of my trade, but  the fiancé's father, who has been a great customer for years,  sent them into my store on Thursday and I was determined to be a good jeweler for them. The job was one I'm usually scared to do because the client wanted a very exact design that had to be made by hand using platinum stock that does not exist from any supplier in the specified 4.1mm wide x 2.15mm thick (after it had been formed into a ring). Due Tuesday, and oh could there be sapphires set on the side? Order 4x3mm 2inches, comes in on Fri.

Friday, roll platinum to 4.3x2.4mm, snip, bend, fuse and go to the lathe. No tool small enough to hold  a ring size 4, so I make one.  Carve waxes. 1 ring for a black diamond, more cupid work, and finish a wavy design on a wedding band. Take pictures of some pieces.

Saturday, new tool for platinum ring works just dandy because it  holds from size3.5 to about a 7.0.

J.P of the Deerfield TWP PD ran my 51 to make sure my 51 wasn't robbing myself with oiled hands, apron and safety goggles. My 51 was fine. ---What the heck is a 51? I'm thinking the 51 is "Bad Guy Status"---

Polished the "Temple" holding 3 big princess cut diamonds. Took pictures of pieces I made through the week.

Cooked  corn meal in water infused with garlic, and bay leaves. Added  roasted garlic provolone cheese. Baked the fluffy cheese grits in some bad ass hot peppers with a black bean and corn salsa topping that itself was topped by a branch of fresh rosemary . Sautéed shrimp in a rosemary sea salt, black cumin and mustard seed oil. Fried the left over grits into fried polenta patties and steamed some broccoli. Not bad. Had a bottle of Chateau Neuf de Pape and a few good laughs with Court. Great date.

Sunday we spent the day on Jim's couch watching him play with his controllers as they tore through most of the games satellite had to offer, and took in the smell of Roast, carrots and potatoes as they cooked to caramelized yummy-loveliness.

Monday make curry at home, watch Elf, and have a few good laughs with C. & P.

Tuesday set the diamonds and sapphires in the platinum band, polish and finish, owner smiles, and one point scored for the good jeweler side. Started a Mokume band, and talked to too many people. Went climbing and learned that a breast cancer ribbon I made went to a woman who is beginning chemotherapy, and wears it like armor now. I hope the armor helps.
